Nancy II Grapes
| "Faubles & Baubles" is the name of a Beadwrangler series of classes combining beads and fiber with various craft techniques. A group of techniques are applied in each class resulting in new ideas, creative expression and lots of fun . The pin you see here is titled "Nancy II Grapes." It is a broach I created using techniques I taught at the Chain Link 2000 Conference. One of the basic techniques I included in this class I first learned about at the Pinellas Weavers Guild from Nancy Ryders instructions. The yarn is from Nancy Brown, who has a vendor booth at every crochet conference. So I got the yarn from Nancy Brown and the basic how to from Nancy Ryder, so that makes Nancy II. I added "Grapes" because the yarn color makes me think of grapes, grape juice and wine. Everyone had so much fun in this class, they did not want it to be over. That is the best compliment an instructor can receive. I also received some very kind thank you notes in the mail from students. This makes the joy of teaching all the sweeter. I added buttonhole stitching around the face to keep it attached to the bottom of the piece and some Beadwrangler drop bead crocheted vine as added embellishment. The ceramic face had holes in the top to stitch it down to the fabric. This broach is 4"long by 3"wide, however, it is mostly fiber which keeps it lightweight. Wouldnt Nancy II Grapes be a great addition to a crocheted hat, beret or vest? |
