Bead Crochet Show & Tell

Pearl
The Thread Minder

I entered my doll, Pearl, in the doll exhibit at Chain Link 2000. I did not win an award, we can’t win all the time, besides the competition was fierce! The dollmaker entries were extraordinary, each unique and wonderful. It was a joy to just look at them all. Pearl is 7 ½" tall. Her feet stick inside the thread spool and she stands there among piles of beautiful fiber keeping a watch and minding your thread. Pearl’s body dress and hat is made of Lion Brand Chenille Sensations. Her feet are made of Anchor #8 pearl cotton, her dress and hat are embellished with a fancy chenille mixed fiber. She is stuffed with fiberfill. Her head is a glass bead imitation pearl. Her hands are plastic beads that also look like pearls. She has beaded earrings and a shawl of beading from my Rayna’s Vine Wave techniques. I also added a little glass flower to her dress. The thread she is minding is J&P Coats Knit Crosheen that I decided was too pretty to use so I just kept it as a decoration. Actually it was just waiting for Pearl to be invented to go with it. Let me know if you would like to know how to make Pearl.
